Implement Flex Foundation — community grants
We share our time, talent and resources to make the communities where we live and work more prosperous. We provide opportunities for decent work, entrepreneurship and upward mobility. And we believe that Sustainability begins at the local level. Using our technology, expertise and resources, we make a positive social change in the communities where we operate globally.
Education and life-long learning. We work with educators around the world to help provide infrastructure improvements and expand teachers’ skills and capabilities.
Technical and vocational training. Flex works to ensure people have access to inclusive and quality education necessary to succeed in the workplace.
Entrepreneurship. We strive to provide opportunities for employment and decent work for all.
Resource conservation. Flex works to protect the environment by conserving our natural resources and reducing our ecological footprint.
The Flex Foundation is our private grants foundation. Established in March 2002, the Foundation invests globally and serves as a catalyst for positive change in communities around the world, providing support in the areas of natural disaster relief, human rights and educational programs.
Grant proposals must meet criteria determined by the Foundation, and comply with Flex anti-discrimination and anticorruption policies and the U.S. Patriot Act. Projects are selected by regional grant officers and approved by a grant review committee.
With locations in 30 countries, natural disasters may hit close to home for Flex employees. When this happens, we quickly mobilize to help our communities recover and rebuild however we can.
Flex employs talented people who are passionate about what they do, both at work and in their local communities. We engage our communities by providing relevant skills, including technical and vocational skills, for employment, decent jobs and entrepreneurship.
Flex business groups, site sponsorship, corporate sponsorship, employee fundraising, and site committees provide monetary and/or in-kind donations directly to low-income or disadvantaged communities based on their needs.
We’re a socially responsible investor who focuses on improving underserved communities. Granted monetary and/or in-kind donations go to non-profit organizations located in communities where we operate.
Investing in communities can positively impact the social good of a nation or a geographic region. We engage our communities by providing technical and vocational skills for employment, decent jobs and entrepreneurship.
Flex encourages employees to give back to their communities by volunteering time, talent and resources to local organizations. In addition to being the right thing to do, it strengthens our brand and provides growth and teamwork opportunities for employees. The Global Sustainability Team works closely with our different sites to coordinate local community activities.
All local community activities and global volunteer programs comply with the Flex Corporate Volunteer Policy, which serves those in need through volunteer efforts and community service. In 2016, 81 percent of the manufacturing and logistics sites participated in local community engagement activities, and 19,000 Flex employees (representing 38 percent of the total number of employees) logged 48,429 volunteer hours globally.
