How FLDP works
Gain a broad understanding of our business with three rotations through six-month projects across several business units and corporate functions, including at least one international rotation with hands-on experiences. In addition to participating in formal leadership training programs designed to accelerate your career, you will work on the high-impact projects designed to give you real-world leadership experience and broad visibility.
Your 18 months will be divided into three six-month rotations that consist of the following growth opportunities:
Global operations: Travel the world and work hands-on at one of our manufacturing and operations sites in Mexico, India or China.
Corporate functions: Work in such areas as corporate strategy, finance, human resources or marketing.
Business units: Work in a customer-facing role in one of our business units.
The program begins with intensive training with your cohort in areas such as negotiations, executive presence, presentation skills, business strategy and more. In between each rotation, you will reconvene with your cohort for a full week of training that builds on the skills learned during the previous six months.
You will be assigned a program sponsor based on your interests and career vision. Your sponsor will be a senior leader who will help map your career path, give you insight into Flex and open doors for you across the company. You will also have the support to adjust to and navigate our culture.
When you join the FLDP, you will become part of a cohort of future leaders. More than just peers, they will be your support structure and become your teachers, friends and family. Members of the FLDP come from all over the world and join us from all stages of life. Some are just completing degrees from top graduate universities, others come from the workforce and many of our best join us from sites across the globe.
Social events and volunteering
While working hard is important, we also want to have fun together and give back to our communities. As a cohort, we regularly meet for social events, lunches, hikes and more. Past events have included an escape room, team barbecues, mountain hikes with executives, potluck dinners, cultural cooking events and trips to the city.
We are constantly looking for ways to give back. We have prepared meals for those in need, helped coordinate charity runs and nature walks, and organized women’s leadership events. You will have the opportunity to participate in and lead numerous volunteer events.
FLDP members talk about their experience
“Following several successful entrepreneurial experiences, I desired to work more closely with technology. Flex and FLDP in particular offer the opportunity to do so. Flex is an industry leader providing a partnership of sketch to scale solutions for many technology products across a wide range of industries. This Flex program is a unique opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of technology across different industries as well as an exposure to the design and manufacturing process.”
“I was born and raised in the vibrant city of Shanghai, China and I’m the first in my family to go to college. Recently, I decided to move to Silicon Valley to join the Flex Leadership Development Program and to explore all that the Bay Area has to offer. The opportunities given to me in the FLDP, and at Flex in general, have been incredible. I was assigned a very difficult project – to help our teams reduce logistics costs by improving the Routing Guide, a comprehensive set of shipping guidelines used worldwide.”
