Connecting and collaborating with tomorrow’s innovators

The future of tech is built on continual innovation. Each generation builds on the next, pushing the envelope to create better, faster, more efficient and more sustainable products and processes.

When we can work together intergenerationally, we spark fresh young ideas backed by decades of experience.

Supporting student innovation

We are always looking for opportunities to connect with and foster tomorrow’s leaders and innovators. We’ve picked two stories to show you the amazing talent that’s out there.

International Formula Student competition, Germany

For 40 years, students have been combining mechanical engineering, technology and cost management acumen to compete in the international Formula Student competition. It pits 500 teams against one another to innovate and build the most efficient, effective combustion race car.

Five years ago, Formula Student added an electric car version, called Formula Student Electric. 90 teams lined up to race their electric cars this year. We took the Esslingen University of Applied Sciences E.Stall student team under our wing.

Seven of our engineers took an advisory role, mentoring students as they prepared to get their electric racer on the road. We also hosted a workshop at the university on printed circuit board design and layout to accelerate their product development.

Our involvement landed us “Gold Sponsor” status, and our logo was printed on the nose of the E.Stall car in recognition of our support.

2019 high school electronics competition, Hungary

In Hungary, we awarded ten student teams the opportunity to face off and show us the best of their skills in electronics. Competitors made their way through five challenge stations, where they had to perform specific tasks.

Their tasks included soldering components and boards together, measuring components with multimeter on the board, guiding our mobile industrial robot on a designated path, inspecting electronic components under a microscope for failures, and creating an LED blinking program using Arduino. Then we scored each team based on their performance.

We invited the teams to our factory, and we continue to send them newsletters communicating internship and job opportunities at our nearby sites. What's more is that two students that participated in the competition did a summer internship with us—and we hope to have them as interns while attending college.

We believe in pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. And we love to see the next generation of innovators doing the same.

Cheers to many more innovations!
