A better future through employee engagement

For the first time, Flex has been nominated for the Ethical Corporation's 2017 Responsible Business Awards in the Employee Engagement category. This nomination is the result of the company's unwavering commitment to sustainability and its three pillars: people, planet and profit. Flex supports sustainability not only because it is good for business, but also because it is good for the environment, for people and the communities. Sustainability helps Flex become the partner of choice, the employer of choice and the investment of choice.

According to Ethical Corporation, this award recognizes "[...] the leading sustainable and responsible business strategies the world over. We look to put the limelight on truly innovative strategies that are pushing forward the boundary of corporate responsibility and sustainability." 

We received the nomination for this award as a result of our outstanding employee engagement activities which include, among others: the Earth Day Challenge, the Flex Leadership Development Program (FLDP) and the Direct Labor Scholarship.

For the Earth Day Challenge, more than 260 initiatives were implemented simultaneously during a two-week period, and approximately 80,000 employees from numerous sites around the world participated in this effort to engage employees in reducing their environmental impact and protecting the environment in their communities. 

Additionally, Flex offers multiple career development programs to advance employee learning and career development, while providing broad exposure to various aspects of the business. FLDP is a powerful growth opportunity and career accelerator for early to mid-career employees around the world. This program provides our highest performing employees with the opportunity to gain a holistic understanding of our business through four 6-month cross-functional rotations along with mentorship from senior business leaders. 

We also launched a Direct Labor Scholarship Program that allows employees to earn high school, bachelor or master degrees through on-site classes. This program was launched in Guadalajara, Mexico with great results and is now being expanded to Brazil, China, Malaysia and Poland.

These are only a few of the many extraordinary employee engagement efforts that are happening at our locations around the world, made possible by our biggest asset: our people.
